Occasion™ cheesboards are made from Hevea wood which is prized as an environmentally friendly wood. It is used in high-end consumer items as it is valued for its dense grain, attractive colour, minimal shrinkage, and acceptance of different finishes. Unlike other woods that are cut down for the sole purpose of producing consumer items, the Hevea wood used in the Occasion™ range is only cut down after the tree completes its latex producing cycle and dies naturally. It is therefore eco-friendly - we are now using what was previously going as waste.
To assist with sustainable forestry new trees are planted in their place thus ensuring deforestation is never an issue. The use of Hevea wood fits with our commitment to maintaining the ecological balance and sourcing environmentally friendly, ethically produced raw materials at all times.
